Owls handed tie against lowest side left in the F.A Cup.

Sheffield Wednesday have been handed what some will see as a good potential route into round four of the F.A. Cup but others will regard it as a major upset in the making.

The Owls will travel to Macclesfield for the 3rd round tie in the first weekend in January. The Skrill Premier League side currently occupy a mid-table place in their division having won 7 and lost 8 of their 20 league matches to date this season.

The Silkmen beat Brackley 3-2 in an entertaining second round tie at home yesterday and are likely to be pleased to have drawn a Championship club at home in the 3rd round, giving them the opportunity for a giant-killing story.

Macclesfield's Moss Rose ground has a capacity of just over 6,300 and so Wednesday fans will be expected to snap up the limited number of away tickets that will be made available for the rare opportunity to see the Owls face non-league opposition in a competitive fixture.

Elsewhere in the draw, Wednesday's city neighbours, United, were rewarded for victory at Cambridge with a 3rd round tie at Premier League Aston Villa, North London giants Arsenal and Spurs face each other and cup holders Wigan have a home game against MK Dons.
