Sheffield Wednesday climbed out of the bottom three in the Coca Cola Championship on Saturday thanks to a solitary goal from Marcus Tudgay against Cardiff at Hillsborough.

The striker hit a low 1st-time strike past Peter Enckelman after a good knockdown into his path from strike partner Enoch Showunmi.

The goal was Tudgay's 5th in his last 9 games and enabled the Owls to move above Preston to 21st in the table.

Manager Brian Laws stated that "it's given us a huge lift looking at the table and seeing us out of the bottom three for the first time for a while."

The task now is to build on the confidence that a win against a good Cardiff outfit will have given the players and take that on into the next game against local rivals Barnsley.
