Owls in need of a return from Rovers trip

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Ewood Park on Tuesday evening as they search for their first away win of the season.

The Owls will give late fitness tests to defender Daniel Pudil and midfielders Barry Bannan and David Jones. Pudil has missed a couple of games due to a thigh injury, Bannan limped off with a foot injury during the second half of Saturday's win against Nottingham Forest and Jones has been sidelined with a knee injury.

Boss Carlos Carvalhal is confident that Bannan and Pudil will be available but with a big game against Brighton to follow at the weekend it is unlikely that anyone will be risked unless they are fully fit. Adam Reach is likely to continue at left-back if Pudil misses out and Almen Abdi could come into the midfield in place of Bannan.

Tom Lees is expected to play having suffered illness that forced him out of the game during the second half on Saturday.

Blackburn remain without summer signing Anthony Stokes. The former Celtic striker has been sidelined for around a month due to a knee injury. Another ex-Celtic player, Charlie Mulgrew, has a calf strain and fellow defender Elliot Ward misses out due to an ankle injury.

Recent signing Wes Brown will hope to feature but the former Manchester United defender may have to settle for a place on the bench for the second game in a row with Rovers currently in winning form.

Wednesday come into the game on the back of a last gasp home win against Forest but they have only picked up 2 points from 4 away games so far.

Blackburn got off to a terrible start to the season but have won their last 2, scoring 4 at home against Rotherham and then coming from behind to win at Derby.

The 2 sides have been evenly matched since the Owls returned to the Championship in 2012 with Wednesday winning 3 and losing 2 of the 8 matches between the 2 teams since then.

Last season's fixture at Ewood Park ended in a 2-2 draw with Lucas Joao scoring a late leveller for the Owls.
