Owls looking for bright future under Gray

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Stuart Gray has been handed the role of head coach at Hillsborough on a 2-and-a-half year deal.

Gray initially took the reigns at S6 following the departure of Dave Jones in December. At that point the Owls had won just one of 17 matches this season in all competitions and were in danger of becoming cut adrift somewhat within the Championship relegation zone.

Since then Gray has guided the Owls to 4 wins from 9 league games with just two defeats and although they still remain in a battle to avoid the drop they have moved out of the relegation zone and have also moved to within touching distance of a number of teams in the bottom half of the table.

Wednesday have also continued to make progress in the F.A.Cup under Gray, securing a 5th round place with a 2-1 victory in a tricky tie at Rochdale on Saturday.

Given the turnaround in results and performances it is little surprise that Wednesday chairman Milan Manadaric offered Gray the job on a permanent basis. The Chairman stated that he is planning to implement 'modern' type of managerial structure at the club and he is hoping to appoint a director of football at the club in the future.
