Owls make their 1st trip to Stadium MK

Sheffield Wednesday return to action in England tonight following their brief but productive stint in the Netherlands and will play at Stadium MK for the first time.

Wednesday have faced the Dons, who controversially relocated and then took over from what used to be Wimbledon FC, before, during the 2004/05 League One promotion season. Both games ended in draws but the Owls away point came in a 2-2 draw at the National Hockey Stadium, the Dons temporary home until their new stadium had been completed.

Stadium MK officially opened in July 2007 and during the 2007-08 season, the Dons experienced the greatest success in their fledgling history to date, capturing the League 2 Championship title and also the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Manager Paul Ince left for Blackburn Rovers following this success and has recently been replaced by former Chelsea star Roberto Di Matteo.

The Dons were narrowly beaten in a home friendly against Reading at weekend, losing out by two goals to one to a team considered to be amongst the favourites to gain promotion from the Championship in the coming season.

In terms of team news for the Owls, contrary to speculation over the weekend, striker Francis Jeffers is unlikely to make his return from injury in this fixture but fellow front man Akpo Sodje should feature at some stage.
