Owls need to avoid Bees sting to maintain top 6 place

Sheffield Wednesday play host to Brentford on Saturday as they look to push on in the top 6 in the Championship on the back of a rare but welcome away win at Birmingham last weekend.

The victory at St. Andrews came a t a cost with Kieran Lee, Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson and picking up injuries. Westwood looks like being available as he didn't suffer concussion as was suspected. Hutchinson and Lee face late fitness tests.

Glenn Loovens remains sidelined so Michael Turner or Vincent Sasso will play alongside Tom Lees if Hutchinson in not available. Marco Matias will hope for a return to the squad after scoring in an academy game in midweek.

Brentford are likely to be without midfielder Alan McCormack and striker Scott Hogan. Both have stepped up their training but are not thought to be match fit. The Bees main threat is likely to come from Owls January transfer window target Alan Judge.

Wednesday come into the match on a six game unbeaten run in the Championship and they have not lost at Hillsborough since August.

Brentford have dropped away from play-off contention having lost 4 of their last 6 league games but they have recorded 5 away wins to date this season.

The Owls scored a late winner to record a 2-1 victory at Griffin Park back in September and also beat the Bees at Hillsborough last season but Brentford had recorded wins on their two previous visits to S6.
