Owls need to make home advantage count

Wednesday currently occupy 22nd place, the third and final relegation place in the Coca-Cola Championship but with just 3 points between themselves and Barnsley who are in 17th position the onus is on them to claw themselves away from the drop zone by taking advantage of three home games in a row.

With a game and, in some cases, two games in hand on the clutch of clubs directly above them, the Owls destiny is very much in their own hands and having five of the last nine remaining games at home also has to be an advantage.

Coventry, who have just one point more at this stage having played a game more, have just 3 home fixtures left and none of the other clubs in the battle to avoid the drop have more than 4 home games left to play.

Hillsborough has been anything but a fortress this season as Wednesday have suffered 9 home defeats thus far, more than any of the teams that they are chasing. Despite this the home league form in 2008 makes for far better reading with 4 wins 2 defeats and 1 draw from the 7 games this year.

Wednesday will be looking to extend a good run of results which has seen them lose just one of their last seven games when Sheffield United fan Neil Warnock brings his Crystal Palace team to Hillsborough this Saturday. The following weekend sees the visit of promotion chasing Stoke City with a relegation six pointer against Coventry to follow on Tuesday 1st April.
