Wednesday make transfer window move

Sheffield Wednesday have moved to try and address their attacking issues by signing Alessio Da Cruz on loan from Italian side Parma.

The Dutch forward had been on loan at Serie B side Ascoli during the first half of this season but that deal has been brought to an end and Da Cruz has taken the opportunity to move to England on loan for the remainder of the season.

23-year-old Da Cruz describes himself as a second-striker with pace and he is eager to get involved straight away. His recent record suggests he is likely to make things happen in one way or another at Hillsborough, he started the season in goal scoring form at Ascoli and bagged 6 goals in an eventful spell which saw him sent-off 3 times in 18 appearances.

Wednesday have struggled to maintain a consistent attacking threat in games since Steven Fletcher got injured. The Owls are in need of an effective mobile striker who has the stature to hold the ball up due to the Scotland internationals injury but Da Cruz may offer a different threat that the Owls have been lacking with the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall struggling to find form.

Da Cruz should be available for selection when Wednesday face Millwall at Hillsborough in the Championship on Saturday.
