Sheffield Wednesday have received a boost ahead of this evening’s Championship clash with Brighton with the signing of highly rated Everton youngster Ross Barkley.

Barkley moves to Hillsborough on a month long loan with Everton manager David Moyes keen to see him get some competitive games under his belt. The 18-year-old has already represented England at under 21 level and he made his debut in the Everton first team at the beginning of last season, making 9 appearances in all during 2011/12. He has featured as a 2nd half substitute for the Toffees in the League Cup this season.

Barkley is described as a box to box midfielder and will provide a vital option for the Owls in the centre of the park. Wednesday are short on numbers in that area at the moment with Chris Lines currently sidelined after picking up an injury in pre-season and Diogo Amado returned to Portugal having been unable to settle. Barkley is available for selection for tonight’s game at Brighton.
