Sheffield Wednesday are among the seeds for the first round of the League Cup. The draw which is divided between north and south at this stage of the competition will take place next Tuesday with the ties to be held in August.
Wednesday will be hoping to progress further than last season when they were knocked out at the first stage by local rivals Rotherham. There will be no repeat of that defeat at this stage this time around though as Rotherham are also one of the seeded clubs along with near neighbours Sheffield United and Barnsley as well as a host of Championship clubs.
