The former England U-21 international will be in the squad that faces Peterborough United on Saturday at Hillsborough.
The former Manchester United trainee has spent some of this season on loan at Swansea City in Division Three. Manager Chris Turner is very keen to bolster his squad.
"Mark is a ball-playing midfielder who likes to pass it around," Turner told Wednesday's official website.
"With the loss of Robbie (Mustoe) and Guylain (Ndumbu-Nsungu), the priority of recruiting a centre half waned and I felt this was a better use of a loan."
