Owls sing Songo'o's praises

Owls new winger Franck Songo'o put in an impressive debut as Wednesday came from behind to pick up three crucial points against QPR.

The Londoners took the lead after 15 minutes through Delaney and could have been 2 or 3 in front in what was a shocking first half an hour for the Owls.

Songo'o, on loan from Portsmouth, was the one bright spark in that spell, showing good touch and neat passing and provided a couple of good crosses that no one was there to gamble on in the box.

The game changed with a little over five minutes to go before half-time when Brian Laws hauled off the ineffective Showunmi and Wallwork and replaced them with Burton and Mcallister. The home crowd responded to these changes and got behind the team and to their credit Wednesday somehow managed to go in level at the break.

Songo'o was the instigator of the equaliser, showing quick feet to create space for himself before chipping a delightful ball over the QPR defence for Kavanagh to nod over the stranded keeper into the net.

Wednesday went in front shortly after the restart thanks to a Burton penalty after fellow sub Mcallister had been felled in the box.

From then on the Owls dominated the game as QPR had done in the first half and were unlucky not to extend the lead with Songo'o and Small a constant threat from wide positions.
