Wednesday players return for pre-season

Sheffield Wednesday players were back at the clubs Middlewood Road training ground today as preparations get underway for the 2021-22 season.

The players were scheduled to undergo some initial fitness tests today with training commencing in earnest next week when the squad travel to a training complex in Wales for a 10-day camp that will include a friendly fixture against Scottish giants Celtic.

Among the players to return today were the likes of forward Josh Windass and defender Julian Borner, both of whom have been linked with moves away from Hillsborough in recent weeks.

Having lost a raft of players when their contracts expired at the end of last season, Owls manager Darren Moore will be keen to get some new faces through the door as soon as possible so that they can get up to speed as a squad ahead of the new campaign, however reports suggest that Wednesday are currently under an EFL enforced transfer embargo.

The Owls kick off their 2021-22 Campaign in League One against Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Saturday 7th August.
