Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee grant has received national recognition for his fine recent form by being in contention for the PFA fans Coca-Cola Championship player of the month for January.

Grant has had a solid season so far for the Owls and although he is yet to keep a clean sheet this month, he did produce some top class saves in an entertaining cup tie against Fulham and helped to earn Wednesday a point in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich.

It has recently been stated that Grant, a former England under-21 international, has had his progress monitored by someone currently working within the national team goalkeeping network and they have been impressed by his displays this season.

There are still plenty of games to be played by Championship teams this month which are sure to have an effect on the results but as things stand Grant is amongst a leading group of contenders that includes Kevin Doyle, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Jason Scotland.
