On Friday 13th September at Leeds crown court Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine was found guilty of two separate incidents of punching individuals on nights out in Sheffield City Centre.

The striker was charged with ABH after punching a man in a Sheffield bar in February 2012 and GBH for punching another man a month later in a different bar in the same area of the city though he was found not guilty of a charge of GBH with intent.

Madine had pleaded not guilty to both crimes but was found guilty by the 12 person jury with the judge stating that he agreed with the verdict reached.

The former Carlisle striker had previously been convicted of assault after an incident in a Carlisle pub in 2010.

A date has not yet been set for sentencing but although Madine has been released on bail the judge warned that an immediate custodial sentence is very likely.

The Owls, who will be looking for their first win of the season when they face Yeovil at Hillsborough tomorrow, are yet to make a formal comment following the outcome of the trial.
