Owls take 2 on Friday

Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer window activity took off today as the club secured deals to bring in two players on loan until the end of the season. Experienced forward Leroy Lita joins from Swansea and Danny Pugh makes the move from Yorkshire Rivals Leeds United.

Lita has plenty of experience but at the age of 28 should still have plenty to offer at this level if not higher. The former England under 21 international has found the net on a regular basis for the likes of Bristol City, Reading and Middlesbrough as well as Norwich and Charlton where he had loan spells.

Since his move to Swansea in 2011 his opportunities have been restricted. Lita has already spent time out on loan in the Championship this season. He joined Birmingham on a 3-month deal in September and bagged 3 goals in 10 games for the cash strapped midlands club but his spell was cut short due to a thigh injury.

Pugh came through the ranks at Manchester United and made it into their first team on a few occasions before moving to Leeds in 2004. He has since played for Preston and Stoke where he was a regular in the side that gained promotion to the Premier League and he went on to make over 30 appearances for them in the top flight. He returned to Leeds in January 2012 following a short loan spell at his former club but he has found his first-team opportunities limited this season, making only a handful of appearances for Neil Warnock’s side.

Both players are in contention to make their Owls debuts at Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
