Swansea Vs Wednesday: Team news & preview

Sheffield Wednesday face Swansea City in Wales on Saturday as Jos Luhukay's team aim for the first away win in over two months.

The Owls make the trip without Barry Bannan as the midfielder starts a two-match ban having picked up his tenth booking of the season in the home draw with Rotherham last time out. Fernando Forestieri, Kieran Lee, Gary Hooper and Sam Winnall remain sidelined but defender Joost Van Aken is closing in on a return.

Experienced keeper Keiren Westwood made his first appearance of the season for the under 23's earlier in the week but is unlikely to return to the first-team fold despite Wednesday conceding more goals than any other team in the division.

Swansea will be without full-back Martin Olsson for the remainder of the season after he tore his achilles at Brentford last weekend. Midfielder Tom Carroll continues to miss out with a groin injury and striker Wilfried Bony faces a fitness test in relation to a calf injury.

The beleaguered Owls have lost 6 of their last 9 league matches, winning just 1 and defeat on Saturday could see them slip as low as 20th place in the Championship.

Swansea have found adjusting to the Championship difficult following their relegation from the Premier League and they are currently in 12th place, 5 points ahead of the Owls. The Swans have lost 4 of their last 6 games but did enjoy a 3-2 win at Brentford last weekend.

Wednesday were beaten 2-0 in an F.A. Cup replay at the Liberty Stadium last season, having held the Swans to a draw at Hillsborough and the Owls have failed to score in their last 5 meetings with Swansea.
