The winger, signed on a contract that runs until the end of the season, has been one of shining lights during Wednesday’s last two games.

He scored a wonder goal and showed some good touches against Brighton while was one of the more impressive performers in the dismal defeat to Grimsby.

Wednesday have not had natural width on the left hand side for years now and Brunt’s addition was a coy one by Chris Turner.

The Owls boss has promised wide-spread changes in the summer in a bid to be pushing for promotion this time next year.

Elsewhere, Mark Robins has returned to training at Middlewood after his recent injury problem.

The Owls have missed his predatory instincts in front of goal and hope he can come back to score a few goals as the season fizzles out to a finish.

Robins is only on a short-term deal but a strong end-of-season campaign could persuade Turner to keep him at Hillsborough for a further year.
