Owls Vs Baggies team news

Sheffield Wednesday face promotion contenders West Bromwich Albion at Hillsborough tonight with enforced changes expected to the line-up that faced Barnsley on Saturday due to yet more injury problems.

Left-back Peter Gilbert and winger Wade Small were both substituted during the draw at Oakwell after picking up knocks and although the injuries do not appear to be as serious as was first thought it is touch and go as to whether they will be fit enough to play any part tonight.

Should Gilbert fail to make it then Tommy Spurr will resume in the left-back role and on a brighter note Jermaine Johnson should return to the side having missed the clash at Barnsley due to a suspension.

The visitors are likely to include former Owl Chris Brunt but will be without the services of Portuguese midfielder Filipe Teixeira who suffered in injury in their victory over Plymouth at the weekend.

Kevin Phillips may return up-front for the Baggies and that would pit the newly crowned Championship player of the year against the league's young player of the year-Owls defender Mark Beevers.

Both teams are desperate for points in their respective battles at either end of the Championship table and Wednesday will be hoping to continue their good record against tonight's opponents having not lost to Albion in their last six meetings.
