Owls Vs Pilgrims: Team news

Last updated : 14 April 2008 By C. Morris

Wednesday fans would have been fearing the worst at 3.45 on Saturday with most half-time scores going in favour of their relegation rivals.

Come full-time however many of the results had turned around and whilst the Owls go into this evenings game in the bottom three a victory would see them rise four places and shift the pressure onto the other teams.

As has usually been the case this season, Wednesday will not be able to name unchanged side due to an injury picked up in the last match. Graham Kavanagh pulled a hamstring in the draw against Sheffield United and is likely to sit this one out.

Better news is that Peter Gilbert and Wade Small maybe fit to return to the squad but may both have to settle for a place on the bench.

Influential winger Franck Songo'o should be fit to start despite picking up a slight knock against the blades.

Club Captain Lee Bullen may also be in contention having recently made his comeback in the reserves.

Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock returns to Hillsborough for the first time since parting company with the Owls in late 2006 and although he hopes the Owls can succeed in their battle to avoid the drop he will have his side focussed on collecting three points as they chase a Championship play-off place.

Former Owls favourite Steven MacLean should feature for the visitors while Yoann Folly may also be in line to face is former club. The midfielder has struggled to hold down a place in the squad since joining Argyle but played well for the reserves recently.

Key midfielder Peter Halmosi has missed the last two games through a combination of suspension and injury could return tonight.

Wednesday are unbeaten in their last six, but they haven't won either during this period, drawing each game. Plymouth's play-off hopes have stumbled of late as they have lost four of the last six but they have a good record at Hillsborough recently having drawn two and won one of the last three meetings.

The Owls will be looking to draw on their performance at Home park earlier in the season in which they beat Plymouth by two goals to one.
