Owls wait on skipper

The Owls captain missed Monday’s game against Oldham because of a family member being taken seriously ill over the weekend and Turner is hoping that he is ok physically and mentally to play.

With the Ireland U-21 skipper obviously a regular in that team, Whelan would have missed out on the Hatters clash anyway and if Marsden is unable to return, then Turner will have a selection dilemma in the centre of the park.

Matt Hamshaw still is not at his sharpest although one possibility is Adam Proudlock coming into the team for Whelan and Jon-Paul McGovern moving inside.

Turner is still hoping that Chris Brunt will be available for selection as he is on standby for Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifier with Poland on Saturday.

So far, former Owls midfielder Danny Sonner, Phil Mulryne and Chris Baird have already pulled out and there is a slight possibility that Laurie Sanchez could call up the winger as a late addition.
