Peacock praises strike partner - exclusive

The former Wolves striker has been out of action for nearly nine months with a culmination of injuries ranging from a broken leg to a septic toe although he did score twice against Stockport on the back of criticism of him missing some easy chances against Hull and Ipswich.

Proudlock is still suffering from the toe problem but he has played through the pain barrier and looked sharp when called upon but Peacock believes that it is now time for supporters to recognise his strike partner's talent.

Peacock told Footymad: "I think the days of Adam getting stick are gone because everyone knows his ability – he comes on and he is a powerful, quick player although it’s a pity that some of the chances he has had this season have come to his head – he’ll tell you yourself that he isn’t the best in the air and if the chances came to his feet, he would have banged them in because heading is not his game it’s more my game.

"I think he will be starting in the next few games so hopefully he can take his chance because the gaffer doesn’t know what his strongest team is yet because of injuries and this and that but he will get a chance."

On the QPR game tonight, Paul Sturrock will wait until the last minute to pick his team, especially with Graham Coughlan having to pass a fitness test before the clash at Loftus Road.

Richie Partridge though could start after an impressive goal-scoring full debut at Stockport but Peacock warns Wednesday that it will not be an easy ride in the capital.

"It’ll be a hard game because they are a hard working team," Peacock said. "They are strong, physical and have some good players too and everything will be a battle. In fact you can use this interview for the rest of the season because it’s going to be a hard, hard season!

"The important thing is to start taking our chances. We are creating more and the second half against Ipswich proved that. We have to get in teams’ faces a bit more and take opportunities when they come so if we can put that bit right we’ll be ok because defensively we look good."
