Brian Laws has been successful in his search to sign a winger on loan before the weekend having completed a deal to bring Portsmouth's Franck Songo'o to Hillsborough, initially for a month.

The Frenchman who was born in Cameroon has made just 3 appearances from the Premier League side but recently played eight times for Crystal Palace while on loan at the Championship side.

The 20-year-old was a product of Barcelona's famed youth system before signing for Portsmouth in 2005 for £250,000. He has also had loan spells with Preston and Bournemouth.

Wednesday boss Laws stepped up the search for a winger following the sending-off of Jermaine Johnson in the last fixture against West Brom which resulted in a four-game ban and also the fact that fellow wide-men Wade Small and Etienne Esajas are struggling with injuries.

Songo'o is expected to be available for selection for tomorrow's game at home to QPR and should add some much needed pace and impetus to the side.
