Reda the leader

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones has today stated that left-back Reda Johnson will captain the Owls in the absence of regular skipper Anthony Gardner.

Gardner faces a long spell out on the sidelines with an achilles injury and so Johnson will now take on the responsibility. The Owls had previously been captained by Martin Taylor and also Jose Semedo but Taylor has joined Brentford on loan this week and Semedo is not currently a regular fixture in the first eleven.

Reda Johnson is a hugely popular figure at Hillsborough and has matured as a player since settling into his current role at full-back. He sets a positive example with his attitude on and off the field and has the attributes to become a successful leader of Sheffield Wednesday in all aspects of the role.
