Semedo faces spell on the sidelines

Sheffield Wednesday's defeat at home to Wigan on Tuesday was compounded by an injury to central midfield linchpin Jose Semedo.

Semedo has been a regular fixture in the side this season providing a solid base in the centre of the park and support to the back four. His attitude and commitment to the cause have made a fans favourite since he joined the club in 2011.

The Portuguese player is reported to have fractured a leg in Tuesday's match as well as suffering ligament damage and he is expected to be sidelined for a period of around 2 months.

The Owls have moved to add to their midfield options today by acquiring the services of young Aston Villa player Gary Gardner on a 1-month loan deal.
