Semedo signs again

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that popular midfielder Jose Semedo has signed a new contract to stay with the Owls.

The Portuguese player was one of four out of contract players to be offered new terms to extend their time at Hillsborough and he has now followed in the footsteps of goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in signing a new deal.

Semedo has played over 100 games for Wednesday since joining the club in the summer of 2011. He was both the players and fans player of the year in his first season with the Owls and he had formed a successful partnership in central midfield with Kieran Lee under Stuart Gray's leadership last season. Injury cut short his season in February and it was no mere coincidence that the Owls form dipped without him towards the end of the season.
