Simek keeps the faith - exclusive

The Owls are five points clear of Alexandra with four games to play, although Dario Gradi's men have potentially difficult home matches against Cardiff City and Millwall and road trips to promotion chasing Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

Paul Sturrock's men have the slightly easier run-in on paper with games against Norwich and Reading at home with trips to Brighton and Derby but Simek knows exactly what The Owls have to do to guarantee survival.

"I think we can get the two wins that should see us secure," Simek told Footymad. "We're lucky that Brighton and Millwall both lost at the weekend but we are not making it easy for ourselves – a win against Crewe and we could have boosted our situation. But we have four games left, four important games and hopefully we can get the point difference as big as possible so we can survive."

It is now all about keeping positive and getting the wins that will keep Wednesday up sooner rather than later, and the American full-back is now gunning for a result this Saturday against The Canaries.

He continued: "I have to admit that I am disappointed after the Crewe game following our last four results, it's a downer for sure but we will get over it. We will put this result behind us in training and we will be ready for Saturday"

Wednesday's fellow relegation rivals Brighton have to play The Owls at home on Monday followed by Stoke City on the last day of the season while they travel to Wolves and Ipswich Town.

Millwall meanwhile have home games against Plymouth and Burnley and away trips to Southampton and Crewe.
