Wednesday's build-up to the game was rocked with injury worries to half of the team and if The Owls did not have a man sent off then they could have arguably won the game.

Bullen told Footymad: "It has been a while since we were in the faces of a team like we were against Tranmere – we won every challenge, won every header and we were supporting each other everywhere on the park but after the sending off we didn’t get a chance to get back into it.

"But in all honesty, it is something we can take on and if we play like that in the last five or six games of the season we will be safely in the play-offs but we can’t afford to let our standards drop.

"The fans against Tranmere were outstanding. It just shows that if you play a certain way and loose in a certain manner the fans can appreciate that and the supporters were absolutely magnificent. If we can get that support from now until the end of the season we will not be far off of being successful.

"At the end of the day people come away by seeing a 2-1 defeat – but if you analyse the game and the tempo it was played at, and the aggression what we showed, we should have won. But the be all and end all is that we lost and all the teams around us have won and it adds that bit of pressure. But there are positives to be taken from the game and if we carry on playing like that then we will be in the play-offs."
