Sheffield Wednesday have made an early move in the January transfer window by extending the loan spell o Stoke City midfielder Tom Soares.
The former Crystal Palace man got off to a slow start with the Owls after initially signing on a months loan at the end of November.
Having made only brief appearances as a substitute for most of that first spell it seemed he would go back to the Premier League club without make any real impact at Hillsborough. However, a promising display against league leaders Newcastle has persuaded Wednesday to take him on for another month and Stoke have allowed him permission to play in the F.A. Cup so he will be available for selection to play against the team with which he started his career on Saturday at Hillsborough. Soares’ new spell runs until January 25th, taking in a further 4 or 5 matches depending on the Owls cup progression.
Elsewhere it is highly unlikely that Warren Feeney will be seen in a Wednesday shirt again any time in the near future. The Northern Ireland international signed on loan on at the same time that Soares did but managed just 13minutes for the Owls in the 6 matches he was available for.
