Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed a major injury blow today after the club's official website revealed the results of striker Akpo Sodje's recent scan.
The talismanic striker has suffered a hamstring tear and will be out for a month and possibly up to two.
Sodje struck twice to help Wednesday to victory on the opening day of the season but then limped off before half-time and has only started one game since then-at Derby last weekend where he picked up his next injury.
In 2007/08 Sodje found the net 7 times in his debut season for the Owls but this was also an injury ravaged campaign for the big man who managed just 16 league starts.
Wednesday are not short of attacking options at the moment with Leon Clarke, Marcus Tudgay, Leon Clarke and Deon Burton all fit and in contention.
The problem is none of them are in form as Clarke is the only one of them to find the net in the last nine first team games with Burton and Jeffers yet to register at all this season.
In other Owls news midfielder Kenny Lunt has returned to Crewe for a third spell at the club. Wednesday initially signed Lunt, who celebrates his 29th birthday today, from the Railwaymen in 2006 but he has been out of favour for a good while under Brian Laws and spent the back end of last season at Gresty Road.
The loan spell is due to run to the beginning of January.
