Striker stakes claim - duo set for exit

Corr played in the reserves yesterday and caught the eye by grabbing both goals in a 2-1 victory against Wigan.

The striker was released by the Elland Road club and joined Wednesday on trial.

Wednesday also played German goalkeeper Pascal Formann, recently released by Nottingham Forest but Paul Sturrock thinks that there are already better players between the sticks at Hillsborough already.

Lewis McMahon did play a part though in the reserves - good news for The Owls who are down to their bare bones at the moment.

Injury-plagued Paul Smith will not be at Hillsborough next season after being told his contract will not be renewed.

The winger, who was signed from Hartlepool by Chris Turner, will be allowed to use all the facilities at Hillsborough to help him recuperate from his knee problems in a bid to find himself a new club next season.

Another player who looks set to leave is Rob Poulter after the goalkeeper went on trial to Scottish team Gretna.

Poulter only played once for Wednesday when he came on for Ola Tidman against Blackpool last season.
