Strikers shown the door as six leave Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have released six out of contract players as they begin to plan for life in League One.

Strikers Francis Jeffers and Leon Clarke will be looking to find new clubs over the summer as will experienced utility player Michael Gray, Dutch winger Etienne Esajas, midfielder Sean McAllister and American full-back Frank Simek.

Few will be surprised that these players have not been offered new contracts at Hillsborough and Alan Irvine will be looking for a fresh start next term by bringing in some new faces.

Young goalkeepers Richard O’Donnell and Arron Jameson are both set to be offered two-year contracts at the club.
