Sturrock's transfer message to fans

This time last year, Chris Turner had already signed half of the players but they did not seem to settle until Sturrock took over at S6.

But so far, the only signings made has been renewed deals for Graeme Lee, Lee Bullen and Richard Wood.

The club will know at the end of the week whether James Quinn will be staying at Hillsborough because the striker is stalling on agreeing a new deal.

Sturrock though has told fans that he will sign players, but he will not bow down to massive wage demands.

He told the official site: "There are one or two targets I'd like to bring to the club but they are holding out for the best deal. Players will do that, I'm hoping the lure of a big club like Sheffield Wednesday will benefit us.

"I have to make as few mistakes as possible in the transfer market, there's people I could go and get now that I'd overpay for and wouldn't fit into the structure of the club."

Signings are made even more important this season because for the first time, club outside the premiership will be enforced by a transfer window.

Meanwhile, former Striker Shefki Kuqi is set to join Blackburn Rovers from Ipswich Town.
