Sunderland match in doubt

The wind and rain over Hillsborough over the last 24 hours has seen the Hillsborough pitch deteriorate and the club are monitoring the weather.

The Owls' ground staff have been working through the conditions to make sure the game will go ahead although more rain is predicted.

It is doubtful that the game will get called off, especially with 6000 fans heading south from the North East, but Wednesday will have a pitch inspection on matchday if weather conditions get worse.

The last game Wednesday had to postpone was the League Cup semi final in 1994 when massive snow falls prevented Manchester United fans getting to the ground.
