Tough test in store for Owls as new season beckons

Sheffield Wednesday face a difficult start to their 2014/15 Championship campaign, away at Brighton and Hove Albion who achieved a top-six finish last season.

Wednesday travel south with few injury concerns but Stuart Gray will be without the services of right-back Lewis Buxton and attacking option Caolan Lavery.

New signing Dejan Kelhar could revert to full-back to cover for Buxton is Liam Palmer is given a midfield role, Tom Lees could make his competitive debut alongside captain Glenn Loovens at centre-half.

It will be interesting to see who gets the nod in goal with Westwood and Kirkland going head-to-head for the right to become first choice.

Brighton will be hoping to build on last seasons top-six finish and will have a fresh approach in the shape of new manager Sami Hyypia.

The home sides summer signings include goalkeeper and defender Aaron Hughes. Perhaps most significantly for Wednesday, ex-Owls striker Chris O'Grady could make his Brighton debut on Saturday having joined the club from Barnsley.

Wednesday have failed to win on their last 3 visits to Brighton but did earn a 1-1 draw their last season and also enjoyed a 1-0 home win against the Seagulls in their last meeting in March.
