Trio fly into Hillsborough

Grant, released from Derby has a host of experience at Championship level and will be looking to go into the season being the number one goalkeeper - although Burch will have something to say about that.

The two young goalkeepers, Grant being 24 and Burch a year younger, now give Wednesday some real competition between the sticks as the duo both battle it out to be Brian Laws' main man.

Grant, who has penned a three-year deal at Hillsborough, has represented England Under-21 while Burch has played for England Under-20 and could have signed for Wednesday two years ago when he was on trial at S6 while still at Tottenham.

Hinds meanwhile can play anywhere in defence or midfield and was a valuable asset while Laws had the Sheffield-born 26-year-old at Scunthorpe.

He rejected the chance to sign an extended deal at Glanford Park to move to Wednesday, his boyhood club, to seal a two-year deal.

Laws told the club's official site about the new players: "Both goalkeepers are great for the club because they are both very young, very hungry and very able. We've got a contest on our hands - something that we have not had for a long time and two keepers who could be a real asset to the club.

"(Richard's) contract ran out and they wanted to re-sign him but he is another great acquisition.

"The fact that he is a Sheffield boy is an extra ingredient but he can play at centre back, midfield and right back so he is very versatile."

In other news, Yoann Folly and Burton O'Brien are set to join the Wednesday revolution down at Swindon Town joining Lee Peacock, Barry Corr, Steve Adams and of course former manager Paul Sturrock at the County Ground.
