Two more Owls opponents confirmed

Sunday saw 2 more teams confirm their place in next seasons Football League Championship, with differing emotions felt by each.

There was disappointment at the KC Stadium where HullCity’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed as Newcastle gained the points they needed to survive by beating West Ham at home.

Wednesday fans will feel little sympathy for Steve Bruce as he disparagingly commented during Hull’s run to Wembley and the F.A. Cup final last season along the lines of ‘this time last season we were playing the likes of Sheffield Wednesday’.

The Owls will also face Preston North End next season after they cruised to a 4-0 win over SwindonTown in the League One play-off final with former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford bagging a hat-trick at Wembley.

The final Championship team will be confirmed today with both Norwich and Middlesbrough hoping to avoid another season in the second tier as they meet in the Championship play-off final with the winner taking the lucrative spot in the Premier League.
