Wednesday add winger as they look for improvement

Gary Megson had added another attacking option to his Sheffield Wednesday squad by bringing in Ben Marshall on loan fromStokeCity.

The 20-year-old played against the Owls at Hillsborough in a recent friendly for the Premier League side but has yet to feature in a competitive match for them. As a youngster he has had a strong football upbringing, spending 7 years working his way through the Manchester United youth set up before moving on to work with Dario Gradi at Crewe at the age of 14.

Marshalljoined StokeCityin 2009 and during his first season at the club he spent time on loan at Northampton, Cheltenham and Carlisle. Last season saw him rejoin Carlisleon loan where he became an integral part of the team, playing over 30 league games and helping them to the Football League Trophy Final in which they triumphed but he suffered a broken leg in the 1st half.

Ben has moved to Hillsborough on a contract that runs until January 2012 and although he is primarily a winger he has also played as a central striker.

He could be in the picture to make his debut at home toNottsCountyon Saturday as boss Gary Megson looks to freshen things up after an uninspiring team performance in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Bury.
