Sheffield Wednesday have added quality and experience to their squad on transfer deadline day by making the loan signing of Everton winger Aiden McGeady.

McGeady moves to Hillsborough until the end of the current season and could be in contention for selection for the home game against Burnley on Tuesday evening though his match fitness may need to be worked on due to his lack of appearances for the Toffees this season.

The 29-year-old has an abundance of ability and offers flexibility in that he is comfortable playing on the left or right side and also behind a central striker. He also has plenty of experience having enjoyed success at Celtic where he made over 250 first appearances. He signed for Spartak Moscow for over £9M in 2010 and since joining Everton in 2014 he has played over 40 times for the Merseyside club.

McGeady has 79 international caps for Eire and with the European Championship finals on the horizon he will be keen to make a positive impression and cement a place in the national squad.
