Wednesday seek first away win on Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Ewood Park on Wednesday as they go in search of their first Championship away win of the season. Dave Jones’ side have been on a dire run of form but produced an improved display at home to Leeds United last Friday and were unlucky not to pick up more than the point they did in the 1-1 draw.

The Owls were the better side for large periods of the Yorkshire derby and as such few if any changes are likely to be made to the starting line up. Youngsters Ross Barkley and Paul Corry could team up again in midfield with Barkley extending his loan spell from Everton. Corry made his first league start on Friday and adapted well to his first taste of Championship football at Hillsborough.

Blackburn continue to be without Markus Olsson and Fabio Nunes due to hamstring injuries while Simon Vukcevic has a thigh strain. Former Owls loan striker Leon Best continues to be sidelined by a knee injury.

As a result Rovers will select from the same squad that picked up a 1-1 draw at Derby at the weekend where £8M striker Jordan Rhodes was on target for them.

Wednesday come into the game having picked up just 2 points from their last 8 matches. Manager-less  Blackburn are also struggling for form with no wins from their last 5 including 2 successive defeats at Ewood Park.

The Owls have lost their last 4 matches against Blackburn with the most recent defeat coming at Ewood Park in the League Cup last season when the were beaten 3-1.
