Wednesday travel to Wales with top 6 in sight

Sheffield Wednesday travel to face Cardiff City tonight knowing that a point or better will see them climb into the top 6 in the Championship table.

The Owls could welcome back Steven Fletcher into their squad after he missed Sunday's game at Huddersfield due to personal reasons. Lucas Joao and Marco Matias are the only players not available due to injury and Carlos Carvalhal could opt for a few changes to keep the team fresh with games coming thick and fast.

Cardiff have brought in a host of new faces following the recent appointment of former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock. Former Wednesday loan player Joe Bennett is likely to feature at full-back and ex-Leeds centre-back Sol Bamba scored on his debut last Friday. The likes of Kieran Richardson and Marouane Chamakh will be hoping to make their first appearances for the Bluebirds this evening.

Wednesday come into the game having won 5 of their last 7 matches including back-to-back away victories.

Despite their lowly position in the table Cardiff have won 2 of their last 4 games including a home win against Bristol City last time out in Warnock's first game in charge, though they have already been beaten 4 times on home soil this season.

The Owls came from 2 down to earn a 2-2 draw at Cardiff City stadium last season and clinched their play-off place with a convincing 3-0 home win against the Bluebirds back in April.

Worryingly for Wednesday, they have only won 5 times in 32 visits to Cardiff City and they are yet to record a win at the Cardiff City Stadium since the Bluebirds moved to their new home in 2009.
