Wednesday travel to out of form promotion contenders
Sheffield Wednesday caretaker boss Neil Thompson has made a number of changes to his starting line up this evening as the Owls looking for a rare away win that would see them climb out of the bottom three.
Wednesday face Brentford in a 7pm kick-off and the stand out team news is that goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is not in the squad. Results have improved since the EIRE international was brought back into the fold following the departure of Garry Monk in November but the player has confirmed via his Twitter account that he has been ruled out due to broken ribs.
Joe Wildsmith will deputise in goal and Jordan Rhodes returns to the starting 11 with Elias Kachunga in attack, while Osaze Urhoghide will play at the back. Chey Dunkley, Callum Paterson and Josh Windass drop to the bench.
Brentford are once again unable to field top scorer Ivan Toney from the start but the former Peterborough man is available from the bench. The Bees have lost three games in a row which has seen them fall ten points behind Norwich City at the top of the Championship table.
Wednesday would climb above Rotherham United and Birmingham City and out of the bottom three with a win but the Owls have lost their last two matches without scoring.
This is Wednesday’s first ever visit to the new Brentford Community Stadium, their last trip to Brentford’s old Griffin Park ground last season ended in a 5-0 defeat just under a year ago.
