Scott Taylor broke the deadlock of a hard fought LDV Northern Area final first leg with his 27th goal of what is proving his most prolific season.

It was a present Taylor leaves for Blackpool to take into the club's second leg at Hillsborough where he is not available because of suspension.

Blackpool will also be without the suspended Danny Coid and captain Richie Wellens for the away tie and both men played dominant roles in this victory.

Blackpool started brightly with Tony Dinning crashing a 25-yard volley against the post in the 14th minute with Ola Tidman well beaten.

However, the Owls slowly settled down getting men behind the ball and hurrying Blackpool into silly mistakes.

Chris Turner's side also exposed some weaknesses down the flanks and in the 25th minute home keeper Lee Jones had to make a superb reaction save to push Mark Robins' flicked header over the bar.

Jones was again Blackpool's saviour three minutes later, this time pushing Adam Proudlock's header onto the bar and away to safety.

Blackpool came out fighting in the second half with Wellens almost chipping Tidman with a cheeky 15-yard effort.

But the Owls had an immediate reply with the hard working Robins almost lobbing Jones with an effort from the edge of the penalty area.

Blackpool made two substitutions with 20 minutes to go and this spurred the Seasiders into new life.

With eight minutes remaining, Coid made a good break down the left and crossed to the far post where a gleeful Taylor finally escaped his markers to head home from five yards out.
