The livewire frontman grabbed two impressive goals before being dramatically stretcheredoff, after he crashed into an advertising hoarding as he scored the second.

Managerless Wednesday, with chief scout Bill Green in temporary charge, almost made adream start, but Shefki Kuqi's stinging right-foot shot was superbly turned away by MartPoom.

But Morris snapped up his first league goal of the season with a well taken opener afterjust seven minutes.

Adam Bolder's astute ball sent Morris scampering through as Wednesday looked indesperation for an offside flag. Kevin Pressman dashed off his line but Morris slid it coollypast the keeper.

Wednesday skipper Trond Soltvedt had the ball in the net with a deft header on 17minutes, but it was ruled out for offside.

And on the half-hour Morris grabbed his second with his last contribution of the match.

Morris showed sparkling pace and determination when Georgi Kinkladze threaded asplendid through ball for the little frontman.

The ball looked set to run out but Morris carried on sprinting and cut in his low shot froma seemingly impossible angle.

But his momentum took Morris into the advertising hoardings. He vaulted the first boardsthen crashed into the wall breaking a tooth, cutting his nose and grazing his knee.

He was carried off on a stretcher with a neck brace supporting his head. But his injurieswere minor and a hospital trip was ruled out.

Three minutes into the second half Derby put themselves in the comfort zone with atheir third goal.

It came from teenage sensation Izale McLeod, with a helping hand from Wednesdaydefender Ian Hendon.

Hendon under hit a back pass, leaving keeper Pressman stranded, and McLeod produceda burst of pace, rounded Pressman and tucked away his shot.

Substitute Matt Hamshaw gave the home side a flicker of hope with a goal after 60minutes, five minutes after arriving from the bench. His splendid 25-yard free kick curledinside the post out of Poom's reach
