Teenage striking sensation Andrew Talbot came off the bench to produce two late goals and spare Wednesday's blushes.

The 19 year old, who scored against local rivals Doncaster Rovers last Sunday, produced a repeat performance.

Wednesday had led through Craig Rocastle but Keith Southern levelled before Owls striker Lee Peacock had a second half penalty saved.

Wednesday, without injured 19 goal leading scorer Steve MacLean, were hampered with the game only seven minutes old when keeper David Lucas was stretchered off after twisting his knee badly.

But Wednesday, with only one defeat in 15, went close when a diving header from Chris Brunt bounced over from six yards.

And when Peacock glanced a near post header across the face of goal Blackpool had a let off as it drifted out of reach of James Quinn.

Wednesday took the lead from an unlikely source after 27 minutes as the Seasiders were caught out pushing for the breakthrough.

Quinn provided an astute pass for Rocastle to gallop through the middle and lash an unstoppable angled shot past Lee Jones.

The visitors closed in for an equaliser two minutes before half time when a quick break by Rick Wellens caught Wednesday on the hop.

But substitute goalkeeper Chris Adamson was alert to it and raced off his line and made a timely tackle before Keigan Parker hoisted the follow up shot over the top.

Two minutes into the second half Blackpool were level when Jamie Burns beat Lee Bullen at the second attempt on the left and clipped a neat cross for former Everton youngster Southern to power in a header.

Wednesday were gifted a chance 16 minutes from the end after a handling offence but Peacock's tame spot-kick was held by Jones.

But Talbot, on for Quinn after 64 minutes, had the last word. First he provided a cool finish after a neat pass from Glenn Whelan and then followed up smartly to tap in after Peacock's shot was blocked.

Seconds before the final whistle John Murphy chased a long ball and fired in after the home defence dithered.
