Allen's tripple cash raid

After months of criticism towards the chairman, the leisure tycoon has backed manager Chris Turner by making the club an interest-free loan to get the trio.

Allen will hope to recoup the money for the three players by the training ground sale or promotion money, and it shows that he wants to get the fans back on his side despite putting the club into more debt for the time being.

Taylor scored a hatful of goals this season for Blackpool and notched two winners against Wednesday this season alone but has just signed a new one-year deal at Bloomfield Road.

Howard has long been a target for Wednesday and impressed the Owls boss when his Luton Town team came from behind to beat Turner’s men 3-2 in the penultimate game of the season.

Lucas meanwhile is no stranger to Wednesday after spending two spells at Hillsborough on loan and a ‘six-figure’ fee has been agreed with Preston for the custodian’s services, and he only has to agree personal terms.

Wednesday’s strikeforce was weak last term and the addition of two proven second-division marksmen spearheading Turner’s promotion assault will be a good way to get season ticket sales in straight away.

It is a big week for Wednesday with Turner set to complete the signings of Livingston winger Jon-Paul McGovern, Bradford left-back Paul Heckingbottom and Rotherham defender Guy Branston.

Turner has also admitted his interest in Chris Marsden and the former Saints star is believed to sign on the dotted line very shortly as well as an ‘experienced’ defender.
