Bates no-go

Current Chairman Allen, centre of a stormy AGM clash on Monday night, told Bates to make an offer in writing about a takeover.
But it is believed that Bates was only interested in Wednesday as an advisor although Allen said of the ex-Blues boss that he would be the last person he would turn to for advice by stating the rather amusing analogy of ‘when Bates he jumps in the water, the sharks jump out.’
Joe Ashton, who used to sit on The Owls’ board, was heckled by shareholders by making his feelings known and criticising the current regime, and was even threatened to be thrown out by Allen if he didn’t desist.
This all leads to an interesting few weeks to see if Dennis Hobson’s consortium will make a bid for the club.
Hobson has made his money in the steel industry and is currently the promoter of Clinton Woods, yet another champion boxer from Sheffield, and is said to have many contacts in the sporting world.
