The Wednesday chairman is just as frustrated as manager Paul Sturrock with the seemingly endless list of strike targets not wanting to come to the club.

Best, who impressed in a loan spell at Hillsborough at the start of the season, is the man Sturrock now has high hopes to sign following the high-profile moves of Nathan Tyson and Lee Trundle falling through.

Meanwhile, Maurice Ross has joined Wolves for three months on loan with a view to a permanent move.
