Bitter-sweet for Sturrock

Goals from Lee Peacock, Richie Partridge and Adam Proudlock's first goals since that brace against Bristol City in November last year gave The Owls an extra time victory over Chris Turner's Stockport in the Carling Cup last night.

He told the club's official site: "We came in with an anxiety because of the results we've had and our lack of goals. But to be fair, they dug deep, rolled their sleeves up and turned the game so I'm very pleased."

But Sturrock is still awaiting the news on Irish defender Coughlan, who was taken off on a stretcher after hurting his ankle.

He added: "We're praying. It would be a huge blow to the club because I think everyone who was at the game could see he's going to be a really good player for us."

The draw for the second round is made on Saturday.
