Boss happy with point

Both Lee Peacock and Paul Heckingbottom were withdrawn from the squad because of illness and injury respectively, Guy Branston was still suspended while Graeme Lee and Matt Hamshaw are still on the sidelines.

The excellent Glenn Whelan opened his account for the club only for Michael Standing to level just before the break in what was not exactly the most enthralling game ever witnessed.

Turner said: “When you go away from home you are not really interested if it is a good game or not, Tranmere for example was a fantastic game but we came away with a defeat.

“The Walsall game though had limited chances, but defensively we worked really hard, we prevented a free-scoring side at home to go on to get the second goal.”

Turner also had praise for Paul Smith, who unexpectedly played in defence to deputise for Heckingbottom.

He continued: “Despite playing out of position, Paul played well at left-back: he played some good balls down the line, won good headers and defended well.”

Again there were reports of people being let into Bescot without their OAC card following calls to Radio Sheffield after the game although personally, I was checked twice.
